January 28: Today we started reading Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech and analyzing what the speech means. January 29: Today we finished Martin Luther Kind Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech then compared the written version to the audio version of Martin Luther King Jr. delivering his speech at the March on Washington. January 30: Today we started working on the second set of commonly confused words:
We worked in partners to create a charades representation of the words as well as posters. We also filled out a study guide with the definitions of the words. January 31: Today we had a review game of our commonly confused words and began working on the commonly confused worksheet. February 1: Today we started working on prefixes. We each got in groups and created prefix posters to present to the class.

January 21: Martin Luther King Jr. Day--No School January 22: Today we had the Hero and the Crown kick-off assembly with the entire seventh grade. We will be reading this book out of class in mid-March. January 23: Today we read Chapters 27-28 in Touching Spirit Bear and played Stump the Teacher. January 24: Today we began talking about segregation and civil right in regards to Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech. We completed an anticipatory activity in which half of the students received stars and half did not. Those who had stars could play games while those who did not had to write in the dictionary. This illustrated the segregation and inequality between the races during the time of Martin Luther King Jr. January 25: Today we completed a jigsaw activity about Martin Luther King Jr., the Civil Rights movement and the March on Washington.
January 14: Read Chapters 23-25
January 15: Today we took our end of quarter test on plot diagrams, similes, metaphors, voice, word choice and reading comprehension. January 16: Today we were in the computer lab working on your bully papers. Don't forget this paper is due on January 22nd! January 17: Today we watched the movie Newsies in our entire pod as a celebration fr the end of the quarter as well as an introduction to the next unit in your history class. January 18: No School January 7: Today we read Chapter 21 in Touching Spirit Bear and began working on the bully argument paper
January 8: Today we read Chapter 22 in Touching Spirit Bear and continued working on the bully argument paper by working on our paper outline January 9: Today worked on our argument papers on MYAccess. The prompt is "How to Handle Bullies" Paper must be 400-500 words long. January 10: Today we took the SRI reading test then continued working on our argument papers on MYAccess January 11: Rise and Stretch Wednesday: Today we read chapters 18-19 in Touching Spirit Bear. We also had a homework assignment--writing a letter to your parents convincing them to give you a privilege that you want. Thursday: Today we read chapter 20 in Touching Spirit Bear and talked more about argument writing. We worked on an assignment talking about why certain things make cool parents. Friday: Today we had out hotdog party celebrating Touching Spirit Bear.
